Year 11 Cricketers Shine at Lord's

We are incredibly proud of four of our Year 11 students - Charlie, Ben, Adithya and George - who represented the North of England at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday this week, playing in an invitational match against the South XI on the Nursery Ground. The match formed part of the inaugural Knight Stokes Cup, a new national competition celebrating state school cricket.
The opportunity is particularly special given the boys’ achievements with the U15 team last year, which reached the semi-final of the competition, narrowly losing to the eventual winners at Headingley in July. Their selection and performance at Lord’s is another fantastic example of the strength and success of cricket at Sir Thomas Rich’s.
Last year our Year 7, Year 8 and Year 10 teams all won the County Cup; Year 8 and Year 10 both progressed to national semi-finals. Our current Year 10 team will play their County Cup final this month against Cheltenham College and we wish the team every success as they look to make it four County Cups out of four!
Huge congratulations go out to Charlie, Ben, Adithya and George. Being selected in a North XI to play at Lord’s is a fantastic achievement; one to be immensely proud of.
