On Wednesday the English and Drama department hosted a workshop on Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' for the whole of Year 7. Year 12 started the day with a 'reduced' performance of the play showing students how they could creatively explore the text. Year 7 groups then moved in to sessions exploring aspects of Physical theatre, Slapstick comedy and Commedia Dell'Arte. The groups were asked to work together to devise a performance of one section of the play in the afternoon. The boys devised using skills acquired in Drama across the year which then culminated in a full performance of the whole play. The pupils were enthusiastic, creative, focused and hard working in their approach. They demonstrated a wealth of talent in the performances that took place throughout the afternoon and were a pleasure to watch.
