This term Year 7 student Laurence Whitelock made it to the national finals of the Poetry By Heart competition at the Globe Theatre in London. An amazing achievement as Laurence was competing against students from all over the UK, and he received a special commendation by the judges for his performance of Hyena by Edwin Morgan.

The competition has been really popular with Year 7 students since it was introduced three years ago by the English Department, so much so that we plan to extend it to the whole of Key Stage 3 in 2022-23.
